To say Dallas loves
carving is an understatement.
Dallas has been a serious
carver since 1980. He was influenced at an early age by his
grandfather who was a carver and has studied from some of the
best woodcarvers in the country. He did not get serious
about his carving until he was in his thirties. It was his
escape and a great stress reliever, especially during the years
he worked a eight to five job. Over the years Dallas'
involvement in carving progressed from a small studio at his
home in Magnolia, Texas (a small suburb of Houston) a shop in
popular Old Town Spring...called "The Old Texas Woodcarver's
Shop". He started conducting seminars, classes, and promotes the
art and skills of carving wherever he goes. "It is so inspiring
to see the number of people who come into the shop and want to
learn to carve." he says, "I really love teaching and helping
develop new and experienced carvers alike. Carving is an art
that is very relaxing and causes you to slow down - it doesn't
work well if you are rushed." He currently runs The Old Texas
Woodcarvers Shop at 24802 Red Oak St., located in Magnolia,
Texas. Today, He and Donna manage the business from their
home, were he conducts his weekly classes, participates as a
vendor in many of the carving events throughout the Southwest
and provides an online website for carvers to purchase carving
tools and equipment.

He is a member of the Texas
Woodcarvers Guild and claims the title as the Texas Whittling
Champ in 2002, 2006 & 2009. He has won numerous awards for his
carving.
